I am a Mental Health Practitioner with a Masters of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from St. Cloud State University. I am certified as a Prepare/Enrich premarital and marital counseling provider with experience working with couples and individuals in the LGBTQ+ community, including those in the polyamorous/non-monogamous, non-binary, intersex, and asexual communities.
My work focuses on children ages 6 and up, teenagers, and adult couples where I utilize my background in science to provide evidence-based, compassionate care. I utilize Internal Family Systems, Emotionally Focused, experiential, CBT, attachment-focused, developmental psychology, narrative, and somatic experiencing therapies in a way that is tailored to meet the needs of each client and situation. My specialties include working with relational/marital concerns, PTSD, depression, anxiety, attachment issues, men’s issues, career and professional development, life transitions, and peer/school relationships. I am passionate about meeting people where they are at developmentally, spiritually, emotionally, professionally, and cognitively to help them walk towards healing. Together we will develop a plan to help you get where you want to be, working together to identify strengths and growth areas.
A session with me involves a lot of humor, compassion, and honesty. I believe strongly that creating a safe environment for individuals and couples to feel comfortable being vulnerable and facing themselves honestly is the key to successful change. We are all human and I strive to utilize the imperfections inherent in human nature to build relationships and model growth with my clients. There is great power in relationships and secure attachments, so I work hard to create a mutually secure and trusting bond with all my clients to support their growth.
“No one can persuade another to change. Each of us guards a gate of change that can only be opened from the inside.”
