Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get started as a new client?
The first step is to fill out our new client appointment request form to set up a free consultation. Once we have your information, our Intake Coordinator will contact you to get you scheduled with the best practitioner for your needs.
How do I login to my teletherapy appointment?
Several days prior to your scheduled appointment, you will receive an email with a link to your virtual appointment. At the time of your scheduled appointment, just click on the link to be taken directly to the website where your appointment will be held. If you are connecting on a computer, the appointment will open as a website on your computer browser. If you are connecting on a smartphone you will be asked to download an app for our telehealth platform and your appointment will open in the app. If your therapist is not waiting for you when you connect to your appointment, wait several minutes in case they are running a few minutes behind. If you continue to have issues, contact us at 651-447-3605 so we can assist you.
Can I use my health insurance or HSA to pay for services?
Health insurance or HSA accounts can typically be used to pay for psychotherapy services. We are in-network with most major providers (including Blue Cross Blue Shield, UCare, Health Partners, Medical Assistance, Cigna, and Aetna) and will check your benefits prior to your first therapy visit so you understand what is covered.
Are evening or weekend appointments available?
Our therapists offer a wide variety of times and days for therapy appointments, with some offering evenings and weekends, including Sundays. We also offer teletherapy appointments to make scheduling appointments easier for those with busy schedules.
How do I choose a therapist that is right for myself or my child?
The most important element in choosing a therapist is finding someone you trust and with whom you can talk openly. If you are interested but unsure if therapy is right for you or your child or family member, please fill out our new client appointment request form for a free consultation with a clinician. We can help you choose the therapist that will be the best fit for your needs.
What is the difference between coaching and therapy?
Although both coaching and psychotherapy use knowledge of human behavior, motivation, behavioral change, and interactive communication techniques, there are major differences in the goals, focus, and level of professional responsibility.
The focus of counseling is identification, diagnosis, and treatment of mental and nervous disorders. The goals of counseling include alleviating symptoms, understanding the underlying dynamics that create symptoms, changing dysfunctional behaviors that are the result of these disorders, and developing new strategies for successfully coping with the psychological challenges that we all face.
Alternately, the focus of coaching is development and implementation of strategies to reach client-identified personal and professional goals. There is no mental health diagnosis in coaching and the focus is on client strengths and goals. Coaching may address specific personal projects, life balance, job performance and satisfaction, or conditions in the client’s life, health, relationships, business, or profession. Coaching utilizes personal strategic planning, values clarification, brainstorming, motivational techniques, and other helping techniques.
