Hi, I’m Rachel…

(they/them)

I graduated from the University of Minnesota and am licensed by the State of Minnesota as an LGSW. I have accumulated over 8 years of experience working in and around the mental health field. I approach therapy through the understanding that the environment impacts the person, and that everyone is doing the best they can with what they have.

I am very passionate about working with children, teens and young adults, as well as parents. I use an eclectic approach, since nobody fits in a box, and no one approach helps everyone!

I also really enjoy working with parents who are looking to develop their parenting, and are working on improving connection and communication with their children. Being a parent is challenging, and I fully believe that all parents deserve extra support.

I prioritize creating a space where clients feel empowered to process at their own pace. I encourage open feedback, understanding that the therapeutic relationship is collaborative and dynamic. I recognize that therapy can be difficult, and at times intimidating. I work with clients to ease this feeling, while also gently challenging them to move towards the changes they desire.

I am genderfluid and am happily open about that in the work that I do. I have found that being openly gender non-conforming gives me the opportunity to have genuine conversations and I am always open to discussing that and answering questions. I am passionate about the work that I do, and finding ways to remove the stigma of seeking mental health help.  As a white-bodied person, I am aware of the inherent privilege that I have and am constantly working on educating myself, working to be better in my anti-racist approach, and to be aware of this in my work with clients.

In other news, I have an orange cat named George, and she lives up to the orange cat reputation. I also love plants and art and believe both can play a positive role in life. When I have time, I garden, paint, sew, do crafts, and spend time hiking.
