Hi, I’m Sarah…
(She/Her)
I hold a masters in clinical mental health counseling from Capella University and I am currently obtaining clinical hours to become a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). I have 10+ years of experience working with clients of all ages and families as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA/L) in a variety of outpatient settings and environments. Due to my background, I use a holistic approach and have an understanding of the human experience. I use an integrative approach that focuses on the whole human emotionally, physically and mentally.
I see the client and therapist relationship as a place to build safety and connection through revisiting past and current experiences by making sense out of those feelings and experiences together. I value collaboration and see myself as a part of your journey to help bring clarity and understanding. I view myself as a helper not a fixer and that together we can build resilience and understanding to your life experiences. I work with ages 12+, teens and adults that are seeking guidance with past/current experiences, healing, understanding and finding ways to live life in a way that is meaningful and that feels good to you.
I particularly enjoy working with clients who are working on increasing their self-esteem, improving emotional processing, and individuals wanting to enhance overall wellness. By learning new ways of understanding themselves, and by seeking new coping strategies for dealing with stress, clients can gain greater confidence being their authentic self, both in therapy sessions and out in the world. My goal is to support clients through their journey towards self-understanding, self-compassion, and confidence.
In my practice, I believe that we have the power to change our experience and narrative of our story. I utilize approaches consisting of psychodynamic therapy, strengths-based, compassion focused and other approaches to help clients feel validated, heard and to help build strategies that support self advocacy and relief. My goal is to support clients through their journey towards self-understanding, self-compassion and confidence with being their authentic self.
Outside of sessions, I love to spend time with my family, friends and pets (Ozzie, Aussiedoodle and Luna, Russian Blue). I also often find myself enjoying the outdoors at my family cabin, cooking and being active. When I have time, I like watching sports, exploring new music and establishing new novel hobbies.
